It is hard to believe it has already been one month since the 2017 Great Okanagan Beer Festival!
Is it just us or is time going by faster and faster these days?
This was Grimm’s second year as a premier sponsor of the Great Okanagan Beer Festival which takes place at the Waterfront Park in Kelowna BC. We were more than happy to team up with our friends at Gibbons for another fun and successful event.
The flood warnings in the Kelowna region luckily didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits or stop the festival from going on! The rain stayed away and crowd was already lined up, ready to flood the gates when they opened at noon.
This year we had a little experience under our belts so we were more than ready to feed the crowd of 3000 + attendees! We partnered with the Central Okanagan Food Bank for the second year as well to help raise funds for the community of Kelowna.
On the menu we had our Bavarian Smokies, European Wieners and Naturally Fermented Sauerkraut with all proceeds going back to the food bank.
Each attendee also got to enjoy our Mini Peps which were sampled in all of the casks and a full package was included in each of the VIP packages. We also had a contest to win Mini Peps for year that went to one lucky attendee!
Our team had a great day grilling, sampling beer and cider from the 60 breweries (ok, we may not have reached all 60 but we did have a bit of a divide and conquer approach happening) and interacting with the attendees.
Gibbons sure knows how to keep a large crowd in good spirits!
At the end of the day we managed to raise a total of $2400 for the Central Okanagan Food Bank. This was able to buy milk and eggs for a week for the community!
So a big thank you if you stopped by our tent for a Smokie or European Wiener!
Sunday morning we were back at the Train Station Pub for the Grimm’s Hair of The Dog Brunch where we had special menu items created by the Train Station Team. The Grimm’s Caesar and Grimm’s Cajun Benny were both delicious. They were kind enough to provide us with the recipes so we could share with you! You can find the Caesar and the Benny on our recipe page. You’re going to want to make these for sure.
After brunch that was a wrap! We headed back down to the coast with another successful GOBF weekend behind us and refreshed love for the community of Kelowna.
The entire gallery of photos from the weekend can be found on our community events page.
We’re you at the Great Okanagan Beer Fest this year? Did you stop by and say hi to the Grimm’s team?
If you missed us you can catch us again at the 5th Annual Whistler Village Beer Fesitival September 13th – 17th 2017.
