Smokehouse Turkey Pep Chili

A lean, smoky version of chili with a bit of heat using Grimm's Yours Naturally Lean Turkey Pepperoni

Ingredients: 

2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

375g Ground Turkey Breast

375g Ground Turkey Thigh

1 pkg Grimm’s Yours Naturally Lean Turkey Pepperoni (375g) chopped

2 ½ tsp tomato paste

½ can kidney beans (14 oz)

½ can black bean (14 oz)

1 pkg taco seasoning with ¾ cup water

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp chipotle chili powder

1 tsp chili marinade

1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)

1 can diced tomato (14 oz)

¾ jar of medium salsa

1 can green chilies (3 oz)

1 medium onion (chopped)

1 green pepper (chopped)

1 yellow pepper (chopped)

1 Zucchini (chopped)

Salt & Pepper taste

Sour cream, shredded cheddar, green onion (for garnish, if desired)

Preparation: 
  1. Brown turkey breast in pan with 1 tbsp oil
  2. Add taco seasoning and spices
  3. Cook well until thick and add tomato paste, mix well
  4. Drain and rinse beans, set aside
  5. In large pot, add tomato sauce, diced tomato and salsa
  6. After turkey meat is cooked, add to large pot with sauce
  7. Add chopped Lean Turkey Pepperoni to sauce and reduce heat to low
  8. In fry pan, saute chopped onions, pepper and zucchini in 1 tbsp oil until translucent, salt & pepper to taste
  9. Transfer the cooked vegetables to the sauce pot and add green chilies.
  10. Add beans
  11. Allow the chili to simmer for 2 hours so the flavours can meld, stirring occasionally
  12. Serve with dollop of sour cream, cheese and green onion.
